At Sister Creek Hives, every class is an invitation to explore the world of bees. Georgia Miguez, founder and bee-master, is excited to share her knowledge of beekeeping through ethical, bee-first practices, all while letting the bees take the lead.

Step into the apiary and watch the colony in action. Discover the fascinating roles of worker bees, the queen, and the brood. You’ll learn to read hive activity, handle frames safely, and understand the rhythms of the hive. Along the way, enjoy gourmet creations from Chef Sandie Ward, with your questions encouraged.

By the end of the day, you’ll leave with hands-on experience and a deeper appreciation for these incredible pollinators, a glimpse into why we love them.

What You’ll Learn & Experience

Discover hands-on, ethical beekeeping.

Start with a Bee 101 session over snacks, then suit up to apply what you’ve learned in the hive. You’ll learn how to:

Observe hive activity and read colony behavior without disruption

Understand the honeybee life cycle and colony roles, including the QUEEN

Identify eggs, capped larva, and brood patterns

Work with hive equipment safely and responsibly

Know when to intervene and when to let the bees lead

This class is all about learning through care and observation. You’ll wear protective gear, handle frames under expert supervision, and ask questions at a relaxed, supportive pace. This is hands-on beekeeping focused on stewardship, not extraction.
